Lotus in the Hiram Chittenden Locks circa 1910M.V. Lotus

Huge Thank You to all our wonderful Volunteers !

  • Peter Hanke - My Mentor, My Pilot. I try to go where he tells me. We could not do this without you.We are so happy to have you top the crew list!
  • Eric Olson our first engineer stepped up to the daunting task of putting Lotus power plants in good working order. He rebuilt the transmission last summer, installed a new hot water heater and wired in a cell phone charging station. Your are our Prince Eric!
  • Colin Cadle and Janise - you were the first to step aboard when we arrived in PT in
  • Karen Hovde - our over qualified cook! We never go hungry when Karen is aboard! Karen is actually a nationally recognised designer of the Craftsman Era and has helped direct the beautiful refurbishing of Lotus. She generously donated fabric and expertise as well as her time. Karen also organizes our historic weddings and will even sew up an era wedding dress!
  • John Hulburd our newest engineer has been invaluable on the many transits to Seattle this summer. And, he hopes to lead engine roowork parties this fall.Thank you John!
  • Diane Boeger - our best mate.
  • Aug Boeger - handy crewman and gracious captain of the Lotus gig ...and even handier winemaker
  • Sue Hanke - our loyal designated driver to pick up and deliver the crew for nearly every transit 2007 & 2008!
  • Deborah Schomer - our children crewed the Lotus Tours many years ago - and we are still in this together.
  • The lovely English couple (apologies - I will remember soon)who single handly renovated the stern of the house in the summer of 2005.
  • And the wonderful Doctor and her retired engineer husban Tom from Olympia who made magic happen with the afore-mentioned epoxy and reassembled our railings from the crumpled pile we had found them in.
  • Big Dan Helman was a docent 20 years ago aboard Lotus - when Curtiss Gruye was the Captain. Dan came aboard many years ago at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat show and has been aboard for every Boat Show in Seattle at the Center for Wooden Boats and Port Townsend since. I could not have managed the wonderful crowds this past summer at the Wooden Boat Festival in Seattle without you!
  • Piper Corbett-Gruye for years of tea service! and tours
  • Cody Corbett -Gruye for an entire summer of painting every inch her white...and more.
  • And of course - Brion Toss for caring so well for the head steward and understanding how much we all have to do this thing called Lotus!

Then there are the contributors of products and parts.....and this list will take a while to compile and catch up...

  • Randy Repas and Sally Christine of West Marine - Excellent Bottom Paint
  • Gougeon Brothers - Epoxy and that great book they wrote on restoration of wooden boats.
